Auto accidents a grim reality of summer travel

Auto accidents a grim reality of summer travel

It’s summertime, and Georgia residents are out and about. The Peach State has much to offer and has become a tourist destination for travelers from across the nation. Traffic can be heavy at times, and drivers may be unfamiliar with traffic patterns or be caught off guard by a construction zone or other obstruction. Auto accidents are a constant risk to drivers and their passengers, and a recent crash provided a sobering example.

Georgia police are still investigating a major crash that left at least 10 people seriously injured or dead. So far, the investigation indicates that an SUV crossed over into oncoming traffic, but the reasons for this dangerous mistake are still unknown. When the vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic, it struck a van occupied by four Georgia residents. All of the people in the van were pronounced dead at the scene.

The vehicle that caused the crash was occupied by two adults and four minor children. Both adults and a 3-year-old child were killed in the crash. The other three children were seriously injured but survived. One of the small victims is in critical condition, and it is unknown if the child will be able to recover.

When auto accidents occur in Georgia, victims and their families may quickly feel overwhelmed. Especially when the number of victims is so high, medical bills, funeral expenses, insurance matters and other financial burdens can seem unmanageable during a time of such grief and shock. Many families choose to consult a compassionate attorney. An attorney can help victims seek damages and compensation in a court of law, and hold the driver that caused the suffering responsible for his or her actions.
